Chapter 7

A man and a woman who marry with the enlightened attitude that the children born to them have a higher destiny than to be born of the flesh alone are recognizing the spiritual truth that God is to appear on earth in another form, that another son of God is to come into expression, not their child, not somebody who looks like them, but somebody who looks like God and acts like God.

When two persons unite in marriage in that realization, their children will be born into their Christhood because before conception the parents will know that their coming together is just their part in giving the child visible expression, but will also recognize that no man on earth is its true father and no woman on earth is its true mother.

There is but one Father, God; and God is the creator, the maintainer, and sustainer of all. Parents are but the instruments through which God's Grace expressed as individual being comes to earth. God is the child's Father and Mother, his creative Principle. Therefore, all that God is and shows forth will become the nature of the child.

Once the Spirit of God is universally recognized, there will be a different breed of children brough forth on earth. Children then will show forth not the glory of their human but of their divine parentage, manifested as the grace and capacity of that divine Parent.

Our outer self, which we call our human being or the creature or the natural man, that which we were born, that is our outer self. And it is entirely cut off from God, but entirely.

So much so that a mother hardly knows whether her baby is going to be normal, natural or not.

Certainly this question could not arise if that newborn babe were already under the law of God. Or if the unborn babe were receiving the grace of God.

Nobody knows what is going to come forth until after they have seen it, and then sometimes it takes several years before they know whether or not it is alright inside.

Why?

Because that child is a purely human creation. It is not born of God. It is born of the will of man, the desire of man and woman. It is not born of God.

And it is for this reason that no one knows what they are going to get until they see it and sometimes not then.

And, of course, you know the exception to this rule is where individuals have come to the spiritual teaching and are fully aware of the fact that the marital relationship is but the result of a spiritually endowed relationship.

And therefore that really it is the carrying out of the will of God on human terms.

Then, of course, these prospective parents are not thinking in terms of my child or your child or glorifying me or glorifying you, but that this child is coming forth to glorify its Creator, the one Father, God, Spirit. And therefore will be spiritual in mind and body.

It is for this reason that we have every reason to look to a higher form of children and grandchildren from the generation that is growing up in the spiritual teaching.

Because at least they, even as a prelude to the marital relationship, will realize that this is merely the product of love, the effect of love, and whatever the fruitage will be, it will be God's gift and God's grace. Then we will know what children are coming forth.
