Julia Davidson: Short analysis of statements
Julia Davidson is highlighted on Chris Bentley's website: www.freewebs.com/iwstudents/juliadavidson.htm.
Julia met Joel, was Lorraine Sinkler's close friend, student and lawyer. Julia taught Bob Pilato who taught Chris Bentley. As you read about what Julia says, you may find that she uses the IW vocabulary, however this is a mental, intellectual, metaphysical approach to the IW principles. It is not the mysticism which Joel taught.
I do not have the time or energy to translate everything on Chris' Julia Davidson page. It is all too filled with intellectual tangling of Joel's teachings. In order to help you, I have tried to comment on some of her sentences to give you an idea of what I mean.

"Besides the one that you are, there is no other."
What does this mean?
Joel clearly uses "One" (capitalized) to indicate God. We are each one with God. Yet, to tell a human person (one) that there is no other, really confounds. We are each an individuation of the One. This must be part of the lesson of oneness or it will not make logical sense to a human beginning this path. Further, we each maintain our individual identity in our individual Christ Consciousness.
"You realize that My Kingdom means the Presence and the Power. That's what you are."
What does this mean?
My Kingdom is that place within where we commune with God. There is not instruction here on how to reach that Kingdom or why we do not know this or feel it without a mystical experience. How is a student to grasp this from such a confusing sentence?
"You're not the presence of any form that a suggestion took or will take, but you are that place in consciousness where you are conscious of the God-being that you are. Now wouldn't it be foolish to try to change and heal and correct and alter?"
Again, do not worry if you cannot understand the above sentence. It is incomprehensible. Julia is simply saying that the truth of your being is that you are not a human, you are spirit. Since the "I" is eternal and perfect, there is nothing to do but realize the "I" that "I AM." In that understanding is illumination. Yet, who can understand this in what was said?
A comment on meditation follows. Meditation is given 10 seconds. No mention of how to meditate, how to lead up to a God Contact, its significance, or that a healing is dependent upon nothingizing and impersonalizing. There is no reminder that there is no healing without a God Contact.
"If I need a new lung, I'll have one. I'll have the only one that ever was, the divine Pattern."
This statement is an affirmation. It simply is not going to happen because we say the words. (Experiment: Tell all the people on transplant wards to repeat this sentence, and see what happens.) If Joel ever used the phrase "divine Pattern" I would like to see the reference. "Divine Pattern" smacks of Quimby and Ernest Holmes' metaphysics - mental healing, New Thought, and Science of Mind and or Religious Science. It is not spiritual, mystical understanding. In fact, as a not so casual observer, I would say Julia still carries much of her Christian Science, metaphysical consciousness with her.
From Bob Pilato's pdf file on Julia we read:
"Go back to your real being and understand that the Infinite Invisible had to be visible, and that's what you are."
Please tell me, how can something invisible ever be visible?

As you read further, there is no explanation of The Nature of Error, no teaching of Christ Consciousness or impersonalization. We read "Carnal Mind" a term Joel eventually abandoned. We read that we must know who we are, "I." However, the Nature of "I" must be imparted, it cannot be intellectually grasped. These passages are Julia's understanding. They are not what Joel taught. It is an unfortunate mix of Christian Science, Religious Science, metaphysics and affirmations.
Please, please, remember that The Infinite Way is not Julia's teaching, Lorraine's teaching, Bob Pilato's teaching, Chris Bentley's teaching, it is Joel's.
