On tape 609 side 1 Joel tells us that he did not like to use his photgraph. He allowed it for magazines and newspapers when they reviewed his works. Finally, he came to feel that even that was not right.
He never liked using photographs because he wanted this message to be impersonal. There was no need to push one's personal self forward. God pushes us.
Not only is this an excellent lesson about Joel's understanding of spiritual teaching, but it is also a fine measure to judge others on this path who want to be leaders. How can one be considered an Infinite Way leader, guide or mentor if one promotes oneself with pictures, leaves legacies with names on them, etc.
