The Study of Joel Goldsmith's Infinite Way

If you are fortunate enough to have been led to an Infininte Way practitioner of high spiritual integrity, one whose spiritual consciousness is expressed in healings and in outward harmony, by all means meditate with that practitioner and let that practitioner’s spiritual consciousness raise you to that altitude and attitude where you yourself can hear the still small Voice. “By their fruits ye shall know them.”  - Matthew 7:19

FINDING A PRACTITIONER

There may come a time when you want a person on the path to help you.  There are many resources for you from the Internet to friends and acquaintances. The serious student will find that they will meet a practitioner when they are ready, perhaps more than one.  How do we determine with whom to study?

Please read "Expectations for Practitioners and Patients"  which follows.

First, any student involved in helping others in The Infinite Way  should have at least 5-10 years of The Infinite Way book and tape study - the more tapes the better. Joel says that it takes at least a year for meditations to bear fruitage and for our intellectual understanding to become an experience (usually defined by a God Contact).  There can be no Infinite Way healing without God Contact. So an Infinite Way teacher must be a healer, a practitioner.

A serious and focused study of The Infinite Way tapes and books for 5-10 years is a minimum for helping anyone on the path. Teachers (IW websites leaders) should know the principles of Nature of Error, Nature of Prayer, Nature of God so well that they not only embody these principles, but also have the ability to discuss these freely with no preparation other than meditation.  They should know the principles so well that they can address any question about them and help the student to grasp a difficult concept. Above all, the practitioner and/or teacher must be a meditator and be able to teach meditation as we practice it in The Infinite Way ONLY.

Practitioners we can recommend

The following devoted students also offer their services to you. They each have a healing consciousness and consider The Infinite Way their spiritual path:

USA East: 9 am to 9 pm Eastern Time

USA West: 9am -9pm PacificTime

In addition,  the office of The Infinite Way www.joelgoldsmith.com offers the help of Sue Ropac or Geri McDonald.

Please do let your practitioner know of your healings. Sometimes healings are not instant. They can take time. If you need many calls for help, this is ok and never a problem for us. When you feel gratitude for the help of the individual, please ask them for their mailing information so that you will know where to send your expression of thanks.  See "Fees" page here for guidance on what to send.

If you are a student/practitioner/teacher who agrees with the Letter to Norman and would like to offer information about a tape group or help us with healings, please let us share your name with others.  We are one spiritual household and can work together in a Circle of Christhood.

Expectations for Patients and Practitioners

Let me begin with these human characteristics to be assumed for both Infinite Way Practioners and Patients:

Honesty, humility, deference, gratitude and a commitment to spiritual healing as taught by Joel Goldsmith through his books and tapes.

Expectations of Patients:

  • The patient has personally requested our help
  • The patient does not expect a particular outcome, healing is about finding God and thereby, worldly harmony
  • The patient believes that the practioner can heal him
  • The patient respects the practioner's request to only ask for help, not share details. The patient does not ask for human advice.
  • The patient respects the practioner's time, realizing they are not social friends
  • The patient understands the importance of reporting a healing, even if it is not what the patient desired or expected.
  • The patient understands their responsiblity to express gratitude in some form to the practitioner.
  • In Christian Science, the patient engages one practitioner at a time. However, in the Infinite Way, we have no such rule. Joel once stood before several hundred in a class with a cold and jokingly mentioned that he never feels the need to hide an erroneous appearance that comes to him, and that he fully expected to be healed by the end of the class with so many working for him.

The point was that we all continue to meet appearances of error, as even Jesus did. We simply do our treatment work and forge on. Further, since Christian Science charges a fee, if one goes to several practitioners, not only do they all deserve their fee, but when the healing comes, we do not know from whom it came or if both.

So, if an IW patient asks for help from several practitioners, they are honor bound to express gratitude to each of them when the healing occurs.

Expectations of Practitioners:

  • The Practitioner has studied The Infinite Way, experiences a God contact -without the contact there can be no spiritual healing. The healing will be mental and thereby, not permanent - the claim will return or be replaced by a new claim.
  • The Infinite Way Practitioner is an exclusive student of Joel Goldsmith's healing principles.
  • There is no mixing of other healing arts/teachings with The Infinite Way.
  • You have been called by Grace to the work, not simply "intellectually decided to be a practitioner."
  • The Practitioner does not look to the patient for supply, for social contact or for a carnal purpose.
  • The Practitioner is available for as long as the patient needs help
  • The Practitioner does not solve a problem on the level of a problem.
  • The Practitioner is not an employer, a psychiatrist, a real estate agent, matchmaker or companion. We use a practitioner for spiritual healing only.
  • The Practitioner does not give "human" advice.

Note: Please feel free to add anything you may feel we have overlooked by a comment in the Guest Book. We welcome your feedback.

Fees

Joel tells us on tape 509 side 2 that we are not to charge specific fees for healing work.  At one time, Joel did have fees as was the custom in Christian Science, but he stopped and allowed each student the freedom to give their own gift of gratitude for the practitioner's time and for healings themselves. In the 1940's, the Christian Scientist practice was to charge $15 to $20 per treatment, similar to the fees doctors charged for a visit.  Today the materia medica model is no longer followed and Christian Science treatments are billed according to the practice of the individual practitioner.

One of the reasons why people are reluctant to accept the call to go into healing work, and for some to remain in the healing work, is that they simply cannot afford to be available to people when there is no expression of gratitude.  Practitioners have expenses in their work.  Telephones, internet, postage and stationery all cost money.  Time away from work is a sacrifice.  Tapes continue to be bought and studied to maintain the practitioner's consciousness. They also attend classes.

Infinite Way healings are often very quick, but they may cure very serious illnesses or problems.  Imagine the consciousness that is able to heal a cancer in one treatment.  Then realize that the patient often does nothing to thank the practitioner by word or by deed.  Often patients have spent lots of money on doctors and other healers in addition to medicines and surgeries.

We hope that patients and students coming to The Infinite Way will realize that practitioners need to be treated with the same loving courtesy and good manners we use in the material world.  In our everyday world, we remember to thank those who do kind deeds and favors for us.  We often given them a gift as a token of our appreciation.  We must do no less for our practitioners.  If we call upon them for healing work and help, we need to be sure that we do what we can to support and thank them so that they can remain to be there for us and others.  Gratitude is a function of our consciousness.  May we all come from "I have," and express our love and thanks to those who have dedicated themselves to helping others.

Some practitioners also work with students helping them to understand the basic Infinite Way principles and meditation. This is teaching and so it is appropriate to charge for this. When working with and Infinite Way practitioner on the principles of our work, the typical gift of gratitude ranges from $25 - $100 per call, and another gift when the healing occurs.

Calls that become consultations about the study of The Infinite Way are teaching calls. These the individual teacher may determine how to charge. As we are professionals, as in other human fields often it is at least $35.00 - $100 per hour with arrangements for those unable to afford this or for shorter calls. Usually a meditation will be part of your lesson. Never hesitate to ask for help with your practice.

Please keep in mind that there is no formal training for our healing work. It is a matter of developed consciousness. We are also not a "religion" and so may not fall under the legal definitions of religious healing. No Infinite Way practitioner can advise you about medical care or ask you to stop taking medicine or visit doctors. This is not part of our work. You decide what is best for your personal care.

This is why it is always very appreciated if you do not tell us your problem or ask for human advice.  We are not doctors, lawyers, business consultants and cannot assume the serious worldly responsibilities in these areas.

Professionals in fields such as psychology, physical therapies, New Age healings etc. who claim to teach and use Infinite Way or Joel Goldsmith methods, are violating our principles and perhaps their own licensed practices.

Joel's Comments on the Future of the Healing Work

"The demands came from other cities, other places, and finally foreign countries until this Word has spread around the entire Protestant world.

"Now, you can understand that a principle like this, being a universal one, if it is attractive to you and if it fulfills something in you, must, of necessity, be desired throughout the world. And, therefore, it could never be possible for any one man to satisfy the demands around the world for such a message,

"Even with all the books that we have written, even with the Grace of God which has published these books in the English, American editions, British editions, Holland-Dutch, German, now going into the Danish and still further within a short time. No one can satisfy that.

"So in each city there must be those equipped to carry on this work. And so it has been that in quite a few cities some have developed capable of carrying it on.

"One of the qualifications necessary for carrying it on is spiritual healing. Some, against my advice, have attempted to carry on without the ability to heal and have found that it doesn't work. People aren't interested in a philosophy of words unless it can be backed with demonstration.

"And so it is, those who have prospered in carrying on this work in other cities have prospered not because they have a message to tell about, they have a message to demonstrate. And by demonstrating in their own experience, they are able to demonstrate it in the experience of others.

"And so it is that this work must now be carried on by those equipped, by those willing to devote themselves to that activity. "  -Joel Goldsmith Tape 164

More Comments from Joel

"As long as a practitioner ministry exists, patients and student must recognize that it is part of their function to support that activity so that it can go on, and secondly, that they must not feel that you can buy healing, because I will not allow you to believe that you have enough money to buy a healing. I can tell you that in our Infinite Way activity around the world we have quite a few millionaires and near millionaires, and if healings could be bought, I can assure you they have enough money to pay for them and would gladly do so. But I can assure you that regardless of how much money you ever pay to this ministry or anyone in it, you are not buying a healing. You cannot buy a healing and you never will have that much money that you can buy a healing.

"Anything that you ever give to a practitioner, a teacher, or any other function of the ministry will merely be your gratitude for the existence of a ministry that can lift you out of mortal consciousness until the day when you, yourself, achieve and attain this, at least a measure, of spiritual attainment. Do you see this? Do you see, please see that no one ever buys a healing? No one ever buys a favor from God. This you cannot do. You could give a million pounds to a church, to a practitioner, but you are not buying one grain of favor from God. Nor does the practitioner have it within their power to do any more for you if you gave them a hundred pounds than if you gave them one. They are giving you their ultimate at all times. Therefore, money has nothing to do with the results or the fruitage that you receive. Money only has to do with that part of maintaining a ministry in existence in the human term.

"Well, you know that, I've told you the story of the man who called me once, also a man of means, in a certain city and said that he was going to go through my class but he heard they were charging three pounds for it, and then he wouldn't go through the class because he thought it was a sin to pay for a spiritual ministry. So I said, 'Well you know, you're not complaining with me because I agree with you. I have that same feeling.' And I said, 'I'm glad that a man in your high position feels that way because I can't do anything about it but you can.' 'Is that so?' 'Yes, you come down here to the hotel and you tell this hotel manager how you feel about this so that he'll give me a receipted bill. And then we'll go over to the air office and we'll convince the manager that it's a sin for them to be charging me air fare when I'm on a spiritual ministry.' Oh, he didn't mean that. I said, 'Oh, I think you meant just that you think it's a sin for you to pay, but you don't mind if I pay.'

"Well now, we don't mean that at all do we? Not one of us really means that. We know exactly what we mean, that spiritual truth is without money and without price. No one ever needs to pay for spiritual truth. All we'd have to do is to sit home in meditation long enough and we'd get all the spiritual truth from within ourselves. But the moment that we expect somebody else to help us in attaining the kingdom of God, well a telephone bill enters in, or a postage stamp enters in, or a railroad trip or something else. So that, please see this with me won't you, that money itself plays no part in a spiritual ministry. It is merely our own sense of gratitude expressing itself for the maintaining of a ministry while it is needed. We're not buying favors with it. We can't buy favors with it. Therefore it has no such connotation."
