Circle of Christhood

Each year more and more students will want to become teachers of The Infinite Way. You may get mailers or find people online.  Some may have a short history with the work, it is hard to know from websites and mailers. Some may have studied only the books.  Insist on a teacher that knows most of the tapes and continues to study them themselves every day.  Teachers must heal. Teachers must know how to teach you meditation.  Do not rest until you find one loyal to Joel.

Everyone mentioned here is a member of our spiritual household regardless of their behavior.  We are not judging them, but rather analyzing their actions. Since students are vulnerable, it is important that they have the information they need to make a wise choice.  Ultimately, they will be led from within.  Meditating on the proper teacher, asking for God to guide and direct you will insure that you find the right place.

It is with great hope that we include all here in our prayers.  We know that they are the Christ and that any inharmonious behavior is simply error operating.  With this realization, we can dissolve the appearances and lift the consciousness of all involved.  You are invited to join us in healing prayer.

The desire to honor God and Truth is evident throughout our fellow seekers.  We hold all here very close in meditation so that we can be one in Joel's spiritual household.

Some readers will feel that our statement of names and activities is a form of criticism or condemnation, on the contrary.  We hope that with new understandings of Joel's instructions in the Letter to Norman (no tapes or books to be used but those of Joel), many will begin to re-evaluate their activities and re-align themselves with Joel's teachings.  It is important for us all to know which activities are in tune with Joel's.  This can only be done by presenting information openly and honestly.

Perhaps many here did not know of Joel's letter and wishes.  (See Norman Letter on this site.)  Once we realize his wishes, it is a simple thing to begin teaching according to those instructions.  One can simply adjust the teaching practice to only use Joel's books and tapes when teaching the Infinite Way. 

If the instructor wants to use other materials, even that of the teacher's personal information or unfoldment, it is only correct to name that separately and teach it as a different philosophy.  Joel was the model for us here. When new things were revealed to him in Christian Science, he left to teach under his own name, The Infinite Way.  The Infinite Way is Joel's message.  It is not the only message of truth.  So, if we have our individual understanding of spiritual truth, this is wonderful and a blessing.  We must, however, give it our own name and prove our principles. To usurp Joel's teaching is unacceptable. To claim you can add to the Infinite Way is saying your consciousness is higher than Joel's. Joel operated under Divine instruction. He was told that the Infinite Way was complete and that is when he also was told to get his things in order and leave, which he did - missing a vacation he so looked forward to in Scotland.

As we  become familiar with Joel's teachings, we realize that Joel's few instructions were never meant to control what a student read.  They were meant to keep teachers in tune with Joel's consciousness and thereby, with each other.  A good analogy here is the way Jewish synagogues all read the same page of the Torah each Friday night regardless of where they are in the world.  The scriptural passage is the same everywhere and usually in Hebrew. Thus, the teaching has lasted with great accuracy for thousands of years. (See the Dead Sea Scroll scholarship on this topic.) Also, if a Jew is forced to flee to another city or country, he is never lost in his spiritual studies. He can easily join in the spiritual activities of his new community.

On the other hand, Christianity has been interpreted and re-interpreted, translated and re-translated, one Bible after another, until today the original teaching of Jesus is almost completely lost. This is what Joel was concerned with. That with added interpretations, the holy message brought forth through him would be lost and hidden.  We must all play our part in keeping his message as it was recorded.  Infinite Way teachers are charged with an even greater responsibility.

If we can agree that we are devoted not to a person, not to a name, but to the highest teaching on earth, then we can easily find a way to honor the revelator by striving to closely follow his teaching and do our part to further the path of truth for future generations. Those new to the work have very little, sometimes no information to reference, no history to understand, no guidelines for their studies.  In this light, we offer our current information and hope that soon, all here will be studying and teaching The Infinite Way with our revelator, Joel's tapes and books.

No comments here are to be taken as personal attacks. We list only those who have declared themselves active in The Infinite Way.  We  have received their advertising, found their business cards, spoken with them, or read their letters and websites. They each announce and advertise that they have materials to sell, and/or are in some way ordained in the work - either by Joel himself or through the contact with one so chosen.  

We hope the information given here will be a way for students to discern for themselves who teaches The Infinite Way.

If you remember what we had this morning on tape number 4, side 2, Honolulu Infinite Way Study Center 1964, there is only one thing that can be added to that and I will not have to say too much about it because we had the subject recently, and that is SECRECY.  The vital art of this practice is the ability to keep It locked up within you and perform it and practice it without ever speaking of It to anyone.  Never under any circumstances let It come through your lips until such time as you have completed the demonstration and are fully living in the consciousness that enables you automatically to turn within every hour of the day, every quarter hour of the day, and realize that right here where you are, in the midst of your meal, at any moment, you can turn within and you will be FLOODED with whatever you need - - inspiration, light, wisdom, principles, courage, foresight, judgment, integrity.  Whatever it is that may be the need of the moment, you just have to blink your eyes and immediately I HAVE ACCESS to all that God has. 

When you are demonstrating this in your life and the fruitage is apparent, then you can begin to teach it and impart it to others, but not before.  If you try to tell it or teach it before you have demonstrated It, you will be telling something to someone else that you have not proven and you will lose your Self respect by setting yourself up as a teacher of something you do not know - - or pretending that something is a principle which you have not demonstrated.  At first there will be those who will tell you that it is selfishness, that you must “give everything you have.”  No!  Just because you know about It does not mean that you have attained the consciousness of It.  Spiritually, never give that which you have not attained.  If you learn of a principle that seems reasonable to you, practice it until your life shows it forth.  Then when someone is led to you, you can share it because it will then multiply itself.  The more you teach what you really know, the more it will multiply itself, but what you try to give another before you are ready, diminishes, and you have less of it.

Do you not see why I had to sit with this Message as a practitioner in an office for sixteen years before I could teach it, and before a book was written?  There were sixteen years of practice before the first book was written, and then no one could deny or refute the principles of The Infinite Way or they would have been in the position the church was in when it said the world was not round after Christopher Columbus returned from his voyage.  Yes, there were sixteen years before the first book, and then another seventeen years in which the Message has gone around the world.

That is how you must be individually, until It is such a part of your life that it is a very living witness of It.  Until then, do not teach anyone because you have nothing to teach.  Spiritual teaching comes out of an ATTAINED CONSCIOUSNESS, not out of an intellectual knowledge.  Anyone with a quick mind can read these books and memorize these principles, but there is no power in reading or memorizing.  One reviewer of a recent Infinite Way book said there is one thing that has to be said about this Message:  “The author himself is convinced that it is Truth.”  And back in the “old days” I used to write articles that were called didactic.  Why?  Because I stated principles with positive conviction, which is the only way in which spiritual teaching can be fruitful.  Until you have arrived at the point of CONVICTION, do not try to teach - - and the only worthwhile conviction is that which is based on demonstration.  “By their fruits ye shall know them.”  Until then, stay alone, even if you too have to wait sixteen years.  A strange thing about Truth is that IT really does not have to be spoken.  Once you have an inner CONVICTION of It, It shines out of your inner Being to those who are receptive.

This brings us to what might be called the very height of mysticism:  Spiritually you are imparting only when you are in SILENCE, when there is no activity of the conscious thinking mind taking place.  You can prove it in this way:  Take plants or birds or animals or infants, and sit by them in an absolute STILLNESS, not attempting to impart with the mind or through thoughts, but with an attentive receptivity:  “Speak, Lord, thy servant heareth.”  Then hear!  As you sit in that listening attitude, with no attempt to impart, you are imparting It.  You will notice that you have better crops and that the birds and animals and infants RESPOND.  Eventually you will also find adults who are responsive and receptive.
 

Joel reminds us of Jesus' comment:

 "His mission was not to build up a name for Himself.  In other words, "This Message is not Mine but His that sent Me."

We are simply underscoring this lesson again. It is not about "Joel" the man, it is about the teachings of the Christ Consciousness which came through Joel, as they came through Jesus, Buddha, Shankara, Lao Tsu. This is the holy Word brought to us in our day. It is not just the teaching of any ordinary person expressing their thoughts and feelings gleaned from philosophies they like. 

The Infinite Way stands alone in the world today. May you have the spiritual perception needed to see this.

 "Norman Letter" Suppressed by Leaders

The Norman Letter was suppressed in the student body until now.   In 1964, every student who corresponded with  Joel got a copy. Everyone who got the Monthly Letter got the instruction in the April 1964 Letter. All teachers and practitioners on Deb Tru's IW directory received an email with this letter last year. The suppression continued.

In 1972 Virgina Stephenson was the first to record her lectures against this direction. But it took Lorraine Sinkler to open the flood gates:

"I waited a long time, but I was well aware of that letter and I know some of you are thinking, "How did you dare to do that when you had that letter?

"But, you see, I had a wonderful teacher. I had a teacher who taught me the real meaning of The Infinite Way, who taught me that there is no authority except the authority of your own inner consciousness. 

"I was so well taught that I couldn't be fooled by such a letter."

Lorraine Sinkler started recording in the 1980's after the lawsuit. Until then, Lorraine taught with Joel's tapes. Using Joel's tapes becomes dangerous if you are not following his principles. Soon, the students discover what is going on and your "cottage-tape-industry" suffers.

The "Letter to Norman"  is emmensely important document for it is one of the final and only directions formally given by Joel.  His other instructions are on the tapes for Teachers and Practitioners. Today, we have many people advertising that they are teachers of Joel Goldsmith (for it is illegal to us the The Infinite Way without permission of the Office in Arizona - this site was created for the Geri MacDonald with permission many years ago and remains dedicated to supporting Joel's instructions although we are not affiliated in any way with the business of The Infinite Way.) 

Because of the confusion for students new to the work and not aware of Joel's directions, we have made this list. It is not meant to be critical. It is simply a vehicle for students to recognize what is and is not Infinite Way.  It would be like  looking for 2+2=4, but encountering 5. We do not care about 5 and its behavior, except when it masquerades as 4. Then we have to take make a statement of fact. 2+2 is 4, not 5.  

If you are a student or teacher of Joel Goldsmith, you are expected to study/teach The Infinite Way with his tapes and books. This is his wish. If we honor his instructions, we are "4".  If you do not, you are "5".  It is very straight forward. Joel's letter made it very easy. (If you make tapes, you have a choice to stop or continue.)

This is not to say that there will never be more truth in the world than what Joel brought forth. Surely, we expect it one day. However, it is the responsibility of the new revelator to give his teaching a new name. This is only fair to Joel and to the students. 

If teachers have nothing new, they are teaching what they have learned from Joel. Why withhold from your students the same vehicle you had : Joel - his tapes and books? If you have something new to teach, then do it with your name and explain how it is different.  Obviously, it will not be The Infinite Way.

Jesus took issue with the moneychangers of the Temple.  In that same vein, we find we must turn over the tables and expose those who appear as Infinite Way, but indeed have personal goals, goods, or agendas.  We hope you will join us in blessing all and  knowing their true  spiritual identities.

We know that Grace operates and "protects" The Infinite Way, but God does not operate in the world. IT must operate through us. We offer ourselves as transparencies for ITs work. May we serve with a Christ Consciousness at all times.

On tape 520, Joel tells us of the importance of "correction."  Teachers of this work must be willing and able to make corrections to the wrong understanding of the message. It is in this spirit that we offer this section of the site.

We have been asked  to help students find their way through the current confusion in The Infinite Way. We pray for the awakening of all mentioned here to the directions JOEL gave his teachers.

Here are links to sites which sell so-called Infinite Way tapes and writings but are made by others, not Joel Goldsmith.  All have been sent copies of "The Letter to Norman."

Many will claim successorship through parents (Stephenson, Ponga), or Joel's introduction years ago. Better to look at the "fruits" of their work and their healings.  Infinite Way teachers must have a healing consciousness, teach and impart meditation, not just know the philosophy of the words.  (John Stephenson has said, "I do not heal, I only teach.  My mother has does the healing work.")

Be aware of the use of excuses for not using Joel's tapes in class. If a teacher does not use Joel's tapes and books exclusively (exceptions would be passages from the Bible and other revealed scripture from Buddha, Gita, Lao Tsu, etc.), they are saying to you that their individual consciousness is greater than Joel's. Anyone who does not recognize the level of Joel's refined consciousness, cannot possibly impart the consciousness of The Infinite Way to you.

October 29, 2007 we were invited to join this list. In the interest of harmony and oneness, we agreed. However, as soon as the list was viewed, it became apparent that the promise in the invitation was not being met. The following paragraph implies that this is a site for those following Joel:

Dear Mary,

Best wishes on your new endeavour. Happy to see you are asking for
only IW. How about listing the Letter to Norman?  Just take it from my
site.  Also, you do not mention tapes, the 55 Kailua and then the 59
Hawaiian Healing. Please consider this for the sake of the students.
The highest consciousness is in the tape work, as you know.

I would also add that before they make ANY contact, a
student/practitioner/teacher should remember to make the connection
within for guidance. Likewise, if ever they have any question about a
person/teacher/practitioner on the list, they do the same.

Listing people is a big step for it often is understood to be
endorsement.  May you be guided to lead and make sure those on your

The problem is "materials other than that of the Infinite Way."  Students must be very aware that there are those who will interpret this as the materials of Sinkler, Stephenson, or anyone who claims to be teaching IW.  The Letter to Norman clearly states ONLY books and tapes by Joel.  This is not a difficult concept, yet it continues to be misrepresented to serve individual's self interests. Please use caution.

This list represents those who are active with Infinite Way students. Comments cover behavior. There is no judgment of consciousness or healing ability.  This is merely a reference to check a teacher's compliance with Joel's Letter to Norman instruction.

Students expect all involved in a spiritual message to maintain the highest personal standards. Teachers expect the same of students.  However, as in any human endeavor, we find variations on understanding and professionalism. The Infinite Way is not an organization, there are very few guidelines. Therefore, please use clear judgment based on your inner communion for guidance.

Caution should be used with any teacher interested in a student for financial, emotional, or other mundane, coporeal desire. Reports have come to us about romantic involvements between students and teachers. It goes without saying that this is totally inappropriate. Each of us is clearly responsible to maintain the highest personal, ethical standards.

All will try to present themselves as Infinite Way teachers. More and more will try to insist on the correctness of their approach. "We just need to go within and let Joel's instructions guide us." This is the legacy of Lorraine Sinkler whom we recently discovered was going to be fired by Joel after his final trip to Europe which Joel did not complete.  Clearly, Joel understood Lorraine's new found independence.  Those listed have notations about their activities so that you can easily measure their cooperation with Joel's instructions.

The Letter to Norman says exactly what teachers should do and what we students should  look for in instruction. Letter is FOR TEACHERS. It is very clear, direct and precise. No teaching but Joel's books and tapes are to be used.

Our purpose is to help Infinite Way students find their way to those who only work with Joel's tapes and writings and who support the importance of keeping Joel's message pure.  The Infinite Way is Joel's experience and revelation.  The truth of the principles being proven through healings.  If you meet an Infinite Way teacher, simply ask if they teach using Joel's tapes and books and if they do healing.  Their answers will guide you correctly.

Please let  us know if there are any corrections needed in the names below. We look forward to removing names from this list if and when they return to the instructions in The Letter to Norman written to all teachers and students in April 1964. These names are found in the catalogue of Mystics of the World and on an independent Infinite Way listing of teachers and practitioners.

We want to hear about healings, about consciousness, about meditation, not about reasons why everyone is free to express themselves as Infinite Way because all truth is truth and everyone is God.  The Infinite Way is JOEL's teaching, period. IW teachers are charged with teaching only Joel's tapes and books.  Again, if you (or anyone else in the world)  have something to add or change, great, but make sure that we all know it is YOUR idea or revelation. The only way to do that is to put your name on it....not pretend to be speaking for Joel. Please, readers, use caution and good sense when evaluating whom you would like to follow and seek guidance from.

Finally, Joel's custom was to wait for students in a city to invite him (often with a plane ticket as well).  He only posted a notice of the class for those who knew him.  He only wanted students already familiar with the work to come to class. He did not do advertising. In this light, please use caution when you are solicited to come to a "mystical" or  "Goldsmith group" class of someone claiming to be Infinite Way, but whom you have never reached out to. This is how business operates, it is marketing. Often, you will be "sold" more than you intended, perhaps even human goods or wares.

A student is drawn to a teacher by consciousness, the hand of Grace. Teachers are not to seek students. Joel made this very clear, for "My own will come to me."

Past editor of Acropolis books. Admits to changing Joel's words to make them more "contemporary" - see introduction to Foundations in Mysticism. Marsh mixes several messages.  We would like to believe this is merely out of ignorance of the principles of The Infinite Way. Perhaps with more tape study, mistakes in his teachings will be corrected. We look forward to this in the future, for Marsh is well liked as a person.

The Hawaiian Hotel Talks: Consciousness In Transition were not published in their original form. Words have been changed and omitted throughout.

A glaring example of a mistake is the following:

In a  letter  dated Dec. 27, 2006, Marsh suggests the book, Anna, Grandmother of Jesus.

"Anna, Grandmother of Jesus " by Claire Heartsong - This book talks about those who surrounded Jesus (his family and students, and their importance to his training and accomplishments.) It is a channeled book.

Marsh, it seems, has not studied Joel's lessons on Dominion nor read what he writes about students studying Christian history.   Had Marsh studied Dominion, he would understand that we never give our dominion to another, nor do we ever impose our consciousness on another.  (This is the lesson regarding only accepting a request for help from the patient directly.)  The entire practice of channeling and "keeping an open mind, so anything can crawl in" would be antithetical to Joel.  We "tile" at the door of our consciousness.  We practice Protective Work.  We are not metaphysicians, magicians, or psychics.

Joel wrote to Barbara Muhl, one of his teachers (not mentioned on "the tape," yet a very close student and teacher), that he did not want teachers of The Infinite Way teaching Christian history as the Bible had many mistakes.  Students, he said, would be better off using their time on the principles. Ancient history is unclear about Jesus. The Dead Sea Scrolls are the closest factual accounts of the time. Whatever we know about the Essenes is not applicable to Jesus for Joel says that Jesus left the group. (Most likely over their militant outlook and holy war teachings which we now know from Scroll scholarship.)

"More recently, in the past two years, I have been exposed to the writings of Eckhart Tolle, a German-born mystic and spiritual teacher.  I agree strongly with his descriptions of inner phenomena and ways of "getting there". I recommend his book "The Power of Now " for all.  Jean Tamborski, who is also a spiritual healer, recently mentioned to me the works of Joel Goldsmith, the famed Christian mystic and healer, who passed on in the early 1960's.  A number of his books are still in print, including "The Infinite Way" and "The Art of Spiritual Healing " (both excellent books), and his words are simple and powerful.  Much like Eckhart Tolle, Lester Levenson, Robert Adams, and Jean Klein, he advises recognizing the "illusory" rules and judgements of the mind, and being willing to let them go, or at least love them for what they are. 

"Much like Lester Levenson and Robert Adams, Joel Goldsmith recommends spiritual healing primarily for its value of "demonstration" or "demonstrating" (words which all three teachers used in this sense), where the words mean precisely that: demonstrating the infinite and transcendent nature of God-ness,  or Being or Spirit (my favorites are Source or Divinity), and also demonstrating the illusory nature of mind."

Jean Tamborski -

Jean's work is based primarily upon the spiritual foundations offered by the late Christian mystic and teacher Joel Goldsmith, as described in his life's teaching work called "The Infinite Way".  Much like Joel Goldsmith's work, Jean's work is based in the sensing of the reality of the omnipresence, omnipotence and omniscience of God and of our deep, unfailing connection at all times with God, giving us access to these same qualities.  When Jean is working at first with a client, she will often use her dowsing abilibities and training to do a head-to-toe "body scan", and elicit a "reading" from 0 to 360, for the person's flow of divine light as a whole, and also a similar score for specific ares of the body.  Jean relates that a zero or near-zero means very low functioning and low consciuosness, while a score of 120 indicates to her a healthy "normal" vitality, and a score of 360 indicates a blossoming awareness and flow of love.  She sees herself as a facilitator, helping people to let go of "baggage" which they may have been unconsciously carrying for years in their mind, body or energy body.  In her release work, she often works with the assistance of angels. Jean's fee for each treatment (which may involve up to 7 sessions over a week) is $100.
