Welcome to 'Joel in Three,' where we delve into the timeless insights of Joel S. Goldsmith. Each entry presents three unedited paragraphs, selected to capture the essence of his teachings. While these paragraphs may not always be in consecutive order, they are chosen to offer a coherent and inspiring exploration of his mystical wisdom.
Today’s Lecture: 0142B Nature of Error in Another Form
“Sooner or later in this work, every successful practitioner comes to the realization that no matter how much truth they know, it's of absolutely no use when they sit down to do healing work. I have never yet met a really successful practitioner, I mean, one busily engaged in the work, who hasn't come to the realisation that no matter what they know about truth, there's a limit to what it will do for them, and that limit is reached long before they get to any healing work. Healing work actually takes place only when the practitioner has reached the limit of his knowledge.”
“In the very earliest days of my practise, I made this discovery, that there was no use of saying to a patient, you ought to read more, or you ought to go to church more regularly, or do church work, or you ought to tithe, or you ought to be grateful, or you ought to be more loving, or you ought to be more patient. I soon saw that they would be all those things if they could. They had no power to be other than they were. I soon learned that if I retired into my silence and achieved a realisation of the Christ, that their natures changed. They became more loving, they became more moral, they became more generous, they became more patient. Every kind of wonderful experience happened to them in proportion as the Christ was raised up in me.”
“Our healing work is not changing fever to a normal temperature. Our work is not moving lumps. Our work is not changing physicality. Our work is realising Christ. The realisation of Christ destroys the material sense of existence. But this is what I bring to your attention. It destroys the good material sense of existence as well as the evil one. That is the nature of the work of the infinite way. Not changing bad material conditions into good ones. Destroying material sense.”
